Game Design

Concept and Ideation: the theme of Reforge is heavy. So we aimed to make it a place where true stories that happened in the past can be recorded. At the ideation stage, we collected information about historic events and traditional patterns as our reference.

Design and Wireframe: the puzzles structure follows the order from simple to complex, so as the amount of interactable items. And for puzzles game, it's important to keep information clear to players to analyze. So we made lots of changes to the wireframes.

Production: after iterating the wireframes, we applyed the hand-drawing art style to user interfaces. We adjusted the colors, patterns and decided how many items could appear at the same page to avoid disturbing elements.

Production Process

Reforge is the first game I have participated in making and it gives me valuable experience and industry insights in game production. At first, I was simply wrote the story due to lack of experience of game making. However, in such a small team, eveyone had to do multiple work including me. So I got the opportunity to wirte the game design documents, create art and even code with Unity.

Throughout the 3-month production process, I have developed the game design methodologies of my own, including rapid prototype, and level design and colaborate remotely.
